William John Fies Jr.
Cynthia Diane Barton

Mr. and Mrs. William John Fies Jr.
July 14, 1951
This is the story of the marriage of Bill and Diane and of the family that was founded by that marriage.

No new family arises out of nothing. Each new family is the conjoining of two families that have come before. Marriage is like a gateway through which pass and mix the traits and traditions of the two families that have come out of ages passed. The new family mixes these and sends them on to be joined and mixed again and again into future ages.

This site is about the family that has arisen from the conjunction of the Fies's from Texas and the Bartons from Michigan and how they came together in California.

As you click the buttons and follow the links in this site, you will be able to share, mostly in pictures, some of the events that have given joy and meaning to life for Bill and Diane.

Some Things You Must Know About Me In Order to Know Me.
Who is that person who will be known mostly as "I"; the voice who seems to be the narrator in this web site. Well, its Bill. Bill, that is, I am the web master and also the narrator in this site so when you see a line like "I did so and so" it is Bill who did it.

The other thing that you should know about me, or really us, is that though we were married in the Episcopal Church, we both eventually became Roman Catholics; I in 1963 and Diane some years later. In this site, I will make no effort to hide my profound joy in Holy Mother Church; to do so would be to hide my real self.
